The 26 year old Mandzukic is seen as competition to German international Mario Gomez with seasoned Claudio Pizarro a third competitor for a position upfront. Bayern Munich signed a striker, who has played two years in the Bundesliga for Wolfsburg, with enough international experience that could put some pressure on Mario Gomez.
Mandzukic is Bayern Munich’s sixth confirmed new signing for the 2012/13 campaign. The club had earlier signed goalkeeper Tom Starke, defender Dante, midfielders Xherdan Shaqiri and Mitchell Weiser plus striker Claudio Pizarro.
